Kamal Nath meets Modi, calls for early release of pending amount from PM AASHA scheme

New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him for an early release of Rs 575.90 crore as the pending amount out of the Centre’s share in a scheme aimed at addressing gaps in MSP-based procurement of crops.

A statement by the Madhya Pradesh information centre said that during his meeting with the PM at Parliament House, Mr Kamal Nath also drew the PM’s attention to the Union government’s decision to implement Prime Minister AASHA (Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan) to back the earlier decision for remunerative MSP for oilseeds.

The scheme was implemented on the premise that 50 pc cost-sharing would be done. Accordingly, the Centre’s share for PDPS pilot works out to be Rs 975 crore out of which it has released only Rs 400 crore, it said.

Mr Kamal Nath said that the state Government was committed to pay to the farmers the minimum support price of their produce through the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan.

This was Mr Kamal Nath’s first meeting with the PM after becoming the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
